There are many diets available in the weight loss industry, and many of them have made different promises. However, there are common myths about weight loss diets, that are very important and rarely mentioned.
Fast Weight Loss Diets
Usually, there is a healthy recommended weight-loss figure per week that is the standard, and that is 1-2 pounds per week. More than this amount, there may be short term benefits; but, the risk of developing health problems increases as the calorie restriction increases. For example, eating less than 1200 calories a day, may increase your risk of developing vitamin/mineral deficiencies, and it can lower your immune function (leading to more colds, etc).
Therefore, it has been shown in research that consuming 500 calories less than what your daily needs are, is an ideal way of losing 1-2 pounds per week. Anything more extreme than this puts the body in an unhealthy state, and fast weight gain after the diet is more likely.
